This Privacy Policy applies to Chess, package name com.puzzlergames.chess, and related support communications. Chess is developed and operated by Keshav Budhiraja, an independent developer based in India. “Puzzler Games” is the developer name used on Google Play and is not a separate legal entity.
Overview
Chess does not require a player account. Core gameplay, settings, and progression are stored locally on the device. The current build does not use an account-based cloud save. Chess uses Google services for advertising, consent choices, and crash diagnostics as described in this Policy. Google Analytics and Firebase Authentication are not enabled in Chess. Future versions may add Google Play purchases.
The disclosures in Google Play's Data Safety section are maintained separately and will reflect the behaviour of the specific app version available through Google Play.
Information stored locally
Depending on the app version and the features you use, Chess may store the following information on your device:
- Game state, move history, selected game mode, computer difficulty, and local match results.
- Trophy Road progress, unlocked matches, trophies, achievements, statistics, tutorial or learning progress, and completion state.
- Settings such as board presentation, sound, haptics, language, reduced motion, and other accessibility preferences.
- Hint availability, rewarded-hint state, whether introductory screens or policy notices have been acknowledged, and, if purchases are introduced, purchase entitlements.
This information is used to operate the game, preserve progress, apply preferences, and restore the current local session. Puzzler Games does not maintain a player-profile database for Chess and does not receive this local gameplay information merely because it is stored on your device.
Firebase Crashlytics
Chess uses Firebase Crashlytics, a Google service, to receive automatic reliability reports when the app crashes or experiences an application-not-responding event (ANR). These reports may include crash or ANR stack traces, relevant application state, app version, Android OS version, device model and configuration, process state, a Crashlytics installation UUID, a Firebase installation ID, and session information used to associate related reliability events.
To help diagnose failures without collecting gameplay content, Chess may attach a limited set of technical context: the current screen, game mode, rules mode, computer difficulty, match number, Safe Mode state, piece style, Reduced Motion state, app version, and the last high-level app lifecycle event. Chess does not attach move history, board positions, hint balances, player progression, support correspondence, or a Firebase user ID to Crashlytics reports.
Crashlytics, Firebase Installations, and Firebase Sessions information is processed by Google to identify, group, and diagnose reliability problems. Google Analytics is not enabled in Chess. Learn more in Firebase Privacy and Security.
Advertising and Google Mobile Ads
Chess uses Google AdMob to provide banner, interstitial, and optional rewarded advertisements. Banner advertisements may appear alongside gameplay. Interstitial advertisements may be shown at natural breaks, such as after a completed match or puzzle. A player may voluntarily watch an available rewarded advertisement for an additional hint. Declining a rewarded advertisement does not prevent access to the core game, and advertisement availability is not guaranteed.
The Google Mobile Ads software automatically collects and shares information such as:
- IP address, which may be used to estimate a device's general location.
- App interactions, advertising impressions, clicks, video views, and reward-completion events.
- Diagnostics and performance information, including launch time, responsiveness, crashes, and energy usage.
- Device advertising identifiers, app-set identifiers, and other applicable device or account-related identifiers.
This information may be used for advertising delivery, measurement, analytics, security, and fraud prevention. Google states that information collected by its Mobile Ads software is encrypted in transit. Google and participating advertising providers process information under their own terms and privacy practices. Learn more in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
Consent and advertising choices
Chess uses Google's User Messaging Platform where advertising consent or privacy choices are required. The choices shown depend on location, age-related settings, provider availability, and applicable requirements. When the Privacy Choices control is available in the app, it can be used to review or update the available advertising choices. These choices apply to advertising and do not disable Crashlytics diagnostics.
Hints and virtual rewards
Chess starts with five free hints. A completed rewarded advertisement may grant one additional hint after the advertising provider confirms completion. Testing versions may temporarily use a different hint balance while the system is being developed.
Hints and advertising rewards are virtual gameplay features. They have no cash value, cannot be transferred between users, and are normally stored as local progress.
Google Play purchases
Chess does not currently provide a working purchase flow. A future version may offer optional hint packs through Google Play Billing. If purchases are enabled, Google Play will process payment credentials, authorisation, currency conversion, tax, refunds, and related payment operations under Google's own terms and privacy practices. Chess will not ask you to enter full payment-card or bank-account details.
When purchases are introduced, the app may receive and store purchase information needed to confirm, acknowledge, provide, and restore an entitlement. This may include the product purchased, purchase status, purchase token, order reference, time of purchase, and Google account-related store status supplied by Google Play. Purchase entitlements may also be stored locally on the device. This section describes the planned purchase handling and does not mean that purchases are available in the current build.
Sharing
Chess may prepare achievement or result text for sharing through Android's system share interface. Sharing happens only when you choose it and select a destination. Puzzler Games does not receive the shared content merely because the share interface is opened. The selected destination service handles information under its own terms and privacy policy.
Support communications
Chess does not require an in-game support account or profile. If you choose to contact the published support email address, we receive your email address and anything you include. Support information is used to respond, investigate issues, maintain necessary correspondence, prevent abuse, and comply with applicable obligations.
Do not send passwords, full payment-card information, bank-account details, government identity numbers, or identity-document images.
How information is used and shared
Information may be used to operate Chess, preserve local progress, apply settings, provide hints, deliver and measure advertisements, confirm advertising rewards, manage advertising privacy choices, diagnose reliability issues, prevent fraud and abuse, respond to support, and comply with applicable obligations. If purchases are introduced, purchase information may also be used to provide and restore entitlements.
Google and participating advertising providers may process information for advertising delivery, measurement, analytics, security, and fraud prevention. Google processes Crashlytics, Installations, and Sessions information to provide reliability services. Google Play may process information for future purchases and store services. Support information may be processed by email providers. Information may also be disclosed when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect users, investigate abuse, or defend legal rights.
Puzzler Games does not sell local Chess progress or support correspondence.
Retention and deletion
Local information remains on the device until it is cleared, reset by the game, or removed when the app is uninstalled. Because Chess has no player account, clearing the app's storage or uninstalling it is the normal way to delete local progress. Depending on Android, device-transfer, and Google backup settings, some app data may also be backed up or restored by the operating system; uninstalling the app may not by itself remove an existing device or cloud backup. Backup controls are managed through the applicable device or Google account settings.
Firebase currently states that Crashlytics keeps crash stack traces and associated identifiers, including Crashlytics installation UUIDs and Firebase installation IDs, for 90 days before starting removal from live and backup systems. Google and participating advertising providers retain other information according to their own policies. Support emails are retained only as long as reasonably necessary to resolve the request, keep necessary records, prevent abuse, or meet applicable obligations. You may request deletion of support correspondence by contacting us.
Security
Reasonable technical and organisational measures are used to protect information. Local progress uses standard device storage, and active network services are expected to use encrypted transmission. No storage or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure.
Children's privacy
Chess is intended for audiences aged 13 and older and is not directed to children under 13. The app has no account registration, public profile, chat, or in-game form requesting a player's name or email address. Gameplay progress is stored locally on the device.
Google advertising and diagnostic services may process technical and device-related information as described in this Policy. Future store services may also process purchase-related information if purchases are introduced. Chess does not knowingly ask children under 13 to provide personal information. A parent or guardian who believes a child has provided personal information through a support communication may contact us to request deletion.
Your choices
- Decline optional rewarded advertisements.
- Use available in-app privacy choices to manage applicable advertising consent options.
- Use device settings to reset or delete the advertising identifier where supported.
- Choose whether to make an optional purchase through Google Play if purchases are introduced.
- Choose whether and where to share an achievement or result.
- Clear local app storage or uninstall Chess to remove local progress, and separately manage any Android or Google backup that may contain app data.
- Contact us about information contained in support correspondence.
Changes to this Policy
This Policy may be updated when Chess, its testing programme, service providers, data practices, or applicable requirements change. The latest version will remain available on this page with a revised update date. Material changes will be reflected before the relevant app version is released where required.
