These Terms of Service apply to Chess, package name com.puzzlergames.chess. Chess is developed and operated by Keshav Budhiraja, an independent developer based in India. “Puzzler Games” is the developer name used on Google Play and is not a separate legal entity.
By installing, opening, or using Chess, you agree to these Terms and the applicable Google Play rules. If you are not legally able to agree to them yourself, use the game only with permission and supervision from a parent or legal guardian.
Licence to use the game
You receive a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Chess for personal entertainment on a supported device, subject to these Terms and applicable store rules. You do not receive ownership of the game, its code, game systems, visual design, audio, text, or other materials.
Closed testing and unfinished features
Versions distributed through a closed-testing track are pre-release builds. They may contain incomplete features, temporary balances, testing controls, placeholder content, performance issues, or defects. Features may be changed, reset, disabled, redesigned, or removed during testing.
Testers should not rely on uninterrupted availability, permanent progress, final pricing, final advertising behaviour, or compatibility between every testing build. Feedback may be sent voluntarily through the published support address.
Fair and acceptable use
You must not use Chess unlawfully or attempt to harm the game, its users, testing process, advertising systems, purchase systems, or connected services. Except where applicable law expressly allows otherwise, you must not:
- Exploit bugs, falsify advertising reward events, manipulate purchase status, or interfere with intended gameplay.
- Use automation, modified packages, unauthorised tools, or altered local data to obtain an unfair result or bypass intended behaviour.
- Redistribute, resell, impersonate, or present Chess or its original materials as your own.
- Attempt to disrupt, overload, probe, reverse engineer, or compromise the game or a connected service, except where applicable law expressly permits an activity.
Chess rules and game variants
Chess provides traditional chess play and may also include optional original rules or special pieces, including the Celestial Pawn. Standard-chess safe mode is intended to provide a traditional rule set when enabled.
Move validation, computer behaviour, difficulty, scoring, match structure, trophies, promotion, special-piece behaviour, and rule explanations may be corrected or adjusted as the game evolves. In-app rule explanations control the gameplay behaviour of the version being used.
Progress and virtual items
Match results, trophies, achievements, unlocked matches, tutorial progress, hints, advertising rewards, purchase entitlements, and similar features are virtual gameplay elements. Except for rights required by applicable consumer law, they have no cash value and cannot be sold, transferred, redeemed, or exchanged for money or real-world goods.
Progress is stored locally and may be lost when app storage is cleared, the app is uninstalled, a device fails, testing data is reset, or software changes. Permanent availability, recovery, or transfer of local progress cannot be guaranteed.
Trophy Road and game balance
Chess may include computer difficulties, local two-player play, learning features, a Trophy Road, a Beyond Human arena, and related progression systems. Match count, trophy requirements, opponent behaviour, rewards, difficulty, hints, presentation, and feature availability may be adjusted for balance, reliability, testing, or product development.
Hints
Chess begins with five free hints. A player may voluntarily watch an available rewarded advertisement for one additional hint after the advertising provider confirms completion. A future version may also offer optional paid hint packs through Google Play. Testing builds may temporarily provide a different hint balance while the system is being developed.
A hint is assistance generated by the game and does not guarantee the best move, a win, a particular score, or error-free analysis. Hint balances and rewards are virtual items with no cash-out value.
Advertisements and rewards
Chess uses banner, interstitial, and optional rewarded advertisements. Banner advertisements may appear alongside gameplay, and interstitial advertisements may appear at natural breaks such as after a completed match or puzzle. Rewarded-ad availability depends on network access, advertising inventory, provider checks, consent choices, age-related settings, region, and device state.
Players may decline rewarded advertisements. A reward is provided only after the advertising provider confirms successful completion, and declining a rewarded advertisement does not prevent access to the core game.
Purchases
Chess does not currently provide a working purchase flow. A future version may offer optional hint packs processed through Google Play. If purchases are introduced, product size, price, currency, tax, availability, and purchase limits will be shown by Google Play before confirmation and may change for future transactions.
If introduced, purchased hints will be licensed virtual gameplay content, not stored money. They cannot be transferred, traded, sold, or redeemed for cash. Availability across devices may depend on Google Play purchase verification and the app's restoration support.
Payments, restoration, and refunds
If purchases are introduced, Google Play will control payment authorisation, currency conversion, tax handling, purchase availability, and refund processes under its rules and applicable law. Chess may receive the purchase status needed to acknowledge, provide, and restore an entitlement.
After purchases become available, if a completed purchase is not recognised, confirm that the device uses the Google account that made the purchase, use any available restore function, and contact support with the purchase date and Google Play order reference. Do not send card or bank information. Refund requests should be made through Google Play unless applicable law requires another route.
Sharing
Chess may prepare achievement or result content for sharing. You decide whether to share and which destination service to use. You are responsible for the content you choose to send, and destination services operate under their own terms and privacy practices.
Third-party services
Chess uses Google AdMob and the User Messaging Platform for advertising and consent choices, and Firebase Crashlytics, Firebase Installations, and Firebase Sessions for reliability diagnostics. A future version may use Google Play Billing for optional purchases. Those services are governed by their own terms and privacy practices. Their availability and operation are outside the developer's complete control.
Original and licensed materials
Original Chess code, interface design, progression, Celestial Pawn implementation, written material, visual effects, game systems, and related original materials are owned by Keshav Budhiraja. Chess rules in the public domain remain available to everyone. Third-party materials, if any, are used under their applicable licences.
Updates and availability
Chess may receive fixes, balancing changes, redesigned features, new content, monetisation changes, or removals. Availability can depend on device compatibility, network access, Google Play services, regional availability, testing eligibility, and technical requirements.
Chess is provided on an “as available” basis. To the extent permitted by applicable law, uninterrupted operation, permanent availability, error-free gameplay, advertising availability, computer-move quality, or compatibility with every device is not guaranteed.
Limitation of responsibility
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Keshav Budhiraja is not responsible for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss arising from use of or inability to use Chess. This limitation does not exclude responsibility that cannot lawfully be excluded or limit consumer rights that cannot lawfully be waived.
Privacy
The Chess Privacy Policy explains local progress, active advertising and consent services, automatic crash diagnostics, planned optional purchases, sharing, support communications, retention, deletion, and privacy choices.
Changes to these Terms
These Terms may be updated when Chess, its testing programme, features, service providers, or applicable requirements change. The latest version will remain available on this page with a revised update date. Continued use after an update means the updated Terms apply from the stated date, subject to applicable law.
